CISA, the Consorzio Interdipartimentale Servizi Archeologici, at the Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale, Italy was the Scientific Coordinator of 3D-ICONS. 
The Interdepartmental Centre for Archaeological Services (CISA), which was set up in 1992, provides collaboration and consultancy services for numerous research projects in the field of Archaeology in Italy, Europe, Africa and Asia, and the Departments of Asian Studies, Classical World and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, Research and Studies into African and Arabic countries.

The CISA has organised a number of multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research projects, based on study of the Ancient World, for various private companies and State organisations. It promotes the applied knowledge and the enhancement of Cultural Heritage through field research, iconographical/iconological analyses and innovative studies about archaeological documentation. Specific goals of the CISA are:

  • to design and develop software for cataloguing archaeological objects and architectonic structures;
  • to implement national and international networks and databases through Portal frameworks;
  • to create innovative methodologies for documentation systems and scientific classification of archaeological findings;
  • to develop methods for processing (raster and vector format), archaeological cartography and graphic and photographic documentation (2D and 3D)
